Under the general direction of management personnel, be able to perform a wide variety of tasks related to assisting consumers in implementing program planning. Must also be able to perform related work as required or assigned.
Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a standard office environment. There could be an occasional community activity and some outdoor programming. While performing this job, an employee may come in contact with various medical equipment, some liquid, fumes, or airborne particles. Noise levels in the environment are usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals, if necessary.
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
1. Provide on-site training and guidance to individuals with Developmental Disabilities
2. Provide assistance and instruction to consumers of appropriate skills and behaviors needed to complete each job performance.
3. Write proper case notes at end of assignment
4. Participate in the IP (Individual Plan) process, when appropriate.
5. Attend any required staff meetings and in-service training.
6. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and special education and consumer rights law, and grant requirements.
7. Articulate essential information about program goals.
8. Lead by example through exemplary work-related behaviors and habits, attitude and attendance.
9. Works with Employment Specialist to ensure that all standards are being met.
10. Regular attendance.
11. Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that fosters a therapeutic environment for consumers and a pleasant working atmosphere for staff, referral sources and all those related to operating services.
12. Evaluate consumers work performance and assess whether or not consumer is suited to job tasks. Makes reassignments if necessary to improve work quality.
13. Assign consumers to job tasks, and demonstrates procedure for completing job task.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
1. High school Diploma or GED.
2. Trained in the following areas:
3. CPR/First Aid Certified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
1. Computer skills. Two years of college preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in vocational education.
2. Proven work experience working with adults in the developmentally disabled population.
3. 3-5 years experience working with developmentally disabled adults, with the majority of that experience in autism.
4. Computer Skills in the Microsoft office suite to include: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint.
CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to perform each Essential Function adequately. Must communicate effectively with diverse populations. Must be able to spell correctly, use proper English, and make complete arithmetic calculations to the level appropriate for a high school graduate. Must be able to work independently. Must be flexible and receptive to change. Must have the ability to motivate consumers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in this position must have the ability to:
1. Stand for extended periods of time.
2. See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
3. Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
4. Speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone.
5. Stand, walk, and bend over, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull and move, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds to waist height.
